UNIPORT Student Found Dead In Her Apartment | Daily Report Nigeria

A female student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has been found dead in her apartment in River State.

The deceased, simply identified as Adaeze was found dead in her off-campus apartment located at the Aluu town of Ikwerre Local Government Areas of the state.

Prof Chima Wokocha, UNIPORT’s Dean of Student Affairs confirmed that the 200-level Accounting student was found dead on Friday.

According to the Dean, the police were also present at the scene, adding that it was a case of suspected suicide.

Wokocha said:

Her body was brought by the Chief Lulu-Briggs Health Centre by the people who lived around her lodge.

“She didn’t die in the university hostel. She died in her off-campus residence in Aluu and the scene of the crime was visited by the management of the university, including my humble self.

“The police were there with us also. We acknowledge the fact that she had taken a substance and passed out because there was a bottle of a substance that was found by her side. The parents have come there and I think they are making arrangements to take the body.”

The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed investigations were underway to unveil the cause of Adaeze’s
death.

Iringe-Koko said:

The Divisional Police Officer said a landlord came to report that he saw his tenant on the ground. So, the DPO went there, they saw foam coming out from her nose and mouth and they also saw sniper close to her (the student).

“So, they rushed her to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Investigation is ongoing to find out the circumstances leading to her death.”

Adaeze’s death comes two weeks after another female UNIPORT student, Justina Otuene was found dead and dismembered at her lover, Damian Okoligwe’s apartment.

Okoligwe is currently in police custody as the prime suspect behind Otuene’s death.
