On Sunday night, a newly married couple was abducted by gunmen in the Madabanciya community of Bungudu local government area in Zamfara State.
The bandits reportedly arrived on foot around 11:45 pm, leaving their motorcycles outside the town.
It was said that they were armed with sophisticated weapons and began shooting indiscriminately to scare residents.
The bandits went from house to house searching for food items and other valuables before they encountered the couple and took them into the forest.

Ibrahim Sani, an indigene of the area, spoke with PUNCH and revealed that there was no security agent attached to the village to protect the lives and property of the people despite the security challenges affecting the state.
Sani, therefore, called on the authorities to deploy security personnel to the area.
He said:
“If something is not done on time, we will be left with no option than to relocate to other places.
“They stole large number of animals, food items and other valuables.
“In the process of going round the village, they came across a newly married couple and took them to the forest.”
