2023 AFCON Prize Money Breakdown: What Gold, Silver, Bronze Winners, and Others Stand to Gain

The Confederation of African Football has unveiled the prize money breakdown for the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote d’Ivoire, shedding light on the rewards awaiting participating countries.

Amidst the tournament’s quarter-final stage, which features powerhouse teams like the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the host nation, attention turns to the prize incentives motivating the competitors.

The AFCON winner will secure a hefty $7 million prize, while the runner-up will claim a respectable $4 million. Notably, the third and fourth-placed teams will each receive $2.5 million in recognition of their efforts.

Furthermore, teams exiting in the quarter-finals will be awarded $1.3 million, while those eliminated in the round of 16 will depart with $800,000 each. Additionally, teams finishing third in their groups, unable to progress further, will be compensated with $700,000, while the remaining six teams will receive $500,000 each as consolation.
