Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali may be sidelined for the upcoming friendlies of the Super Eagles against Ghana and Mali after suffering an injury during Chippa United’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) match against champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

Nwabali was substituted in the 73rd minute of the game, which saw Chippa United losing 2-0.

The extent of the suspected knee injury will be assessed in the coming days.

Despite the setback, Nwabali had been included in Nigeria’s squad for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali scheduled for Saturday.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper showcased his talent during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles are set to take on Ghana at the Stade de Marrakech on March 22, followed by a friendly against Mali at the same stadium four days later.
