West Ham Eyeing Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi Amid Financial Concerns

Taiwo Awoniyi

West Ham United has expressed interest in acquiring Taiwo Awoniyi, as reported by Football365.com. Nottingham Forest, faced with the possibility of another breach of the Premier League’s financial regulations, is reportedly open to selling the Nigerian international.

Nottingham Forest recently acknowledged breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, resulting in a four-point deduction as punishment. To avoid a repeat offense next season, the club may need to part ways with one of its key players in the upcoming transfer window.

Taiwo Awoniyi has emerged as a potential candidate for sale to generate the necessary funds, with West Ham having previously shown interest in the striker last summer. Despite Forest’s firm rejection of their offer, the Hammers are reportedly poised to make another move for the former Liverpool player.

Interestingly, Awoniyi has already showcased his talents against West Ham this season, having scored twice against them. With six league goals to his name this season, the 26-year-old forward joined Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin for £17.5 million in June 2022.
