The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, have accepted an invitation from the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, to visit Nigeria.

According to Dr Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner in Nigeria, the couple will visit in a private capacity, not as official representatives of the British government.

Their trip will begin on May 8, with Prince Harry attending the 10th anniversary celebration of the Invictus Games in London.

Meghan will join him in Nigeria shortly after, where they will engage in various activities aimed at promoting cultural exchange and celebrating the resilience of service members.

The activities include visits to military rehabilitation centers, sports facilities, and meetings with local organizations supporting veterans’ welfare.

They will also participate in cultural events and discussions with community leaders on various topics.

The visit underlines Prince Harry’s commitment to the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women.

Nigeria’s participation in the games last year marked its debut, and the country has showed interest in hosting the event in the future.

The trip also holds personal importance for Meghan, who has discovered her Nigerian ancestry through a genealogy test.
