Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru has reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance on crude oil theft and illegal refining, describing them as severe crimes that undermine national prosperity.
Badaru made the statement while speaking at the 13th National Security Seminar in Abuja, organized by the Alumni Association of the National Defence College.
There, he assured that the armed forces are working closely with relevant agencies to combat economic sabotage promptly.

He cited Section 16 of the constitution, which empowers the government to harness national resources for the promotion of national prosperity.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting all national resources and assets, utilizing them to drive economic growth and development.
He believed that President Bola Tinubu would implement the seminar’s recommendations to ensure a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
Badaru said:
“These criminal activities will not be condoned in any form or at any level, and this applies to all natural resources across the country.”
