The Ogun State Police Command has nabbed a suspect, Abike Olonade for allegedly trafficking a 16-year-old student.
The Command announced the arrest on its official X handle on Saturday.
According to the Police, Olonade
confessed to trafficking the teenager to Libya.
Its statement added the victim was a pupil of Adeoye Lambo Secondary School in Obada Oko.

The statement read:
“Suspected child trafficking: May 11, 2024. One Abike Olonade has been arrested for trafficking a 16-year-old student of Adeoye Lambo Secondary School in Obada Oko Ogun State. She confessed that the victim have been trafficked to Libya!”
Similarly, on April 27, 2024, the operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command nabbed two female suspects, Kulu Dogonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah, for allegedly trafficking five children from Sokoto State.

The suspects were intercepted by FCT police operatives at Kagini junction, Abuja, while suspiciously conveying the children into the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the Sokoto State police command had initially been pursuing the suspects. However, the FCT police operatives arrested them after they attempted to flee.
Adeh made the disclosure on Wednesday in a statement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh.
She explained that the suspects and victims have since been handed over to the Sokoto State police command for further investigation and prosecution.
Further quoting Igweh, she stated that the Commissioner urged parents and residents to remain vigilant and utilize the police emergency lines in reporting suspicious activities.
She said:
