3-year-old Girl Shoots 4-year-old Sister to Death

A 3-year-old girl accidentally shot her 4-year-old sister to death in the Texas City of the United States of America.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. when the girls, who resided with their parents in an apartment on Bammel North Houston Road in Houston, were in the bedroom, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Gonzalez explained that five adults were in various areas of the apartment when the girls were mistakenly left alone.

He said one parent had thought the other was watching the girls.

It was said that the 3-year-old girl found a loaded pistol and fired a single shot.

He said:

The 3-year-old gained access to a loaded, semi-automatic pistol.

“A single gunshot was heard by family members. The young child, who was 4 years old, was found unresponsive when they rushed inside the room.”

He further informed reporters outside the residence that the girl was declared dead at the scene—this was after the family called the police.

Gonzalez said:

“It just seems like another awful incident of, again, a child getting access to a gun and hurting someone else, and this time there was a fatal shot.

“Our hearts are broken. Our deputies are pretty shaken up.

We keep putting out there that this is preventable.

“You must ensure that you are a responsible gun owner by keeping your guns in a secure location. More needs to be done than just warning young children not to handle weapons. We must exert ourselves a little more, you know. We witness far too many horrible events play out.”

Meanwhile, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office would decide whether or not any of the adults would face charges based on the police investigation, which is still in the preliminary phase, Gonzalez said.
