Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has acknowledged that retiring German midfielder Toni Kroos is irreplaceable for the club.

Kroos, 34, recently announced that he would retire from football after the Euro 2024 championship in Germany.

Ancelotti praised Kroos for his accomplishments and the courage to make such a decision. Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, the Italian manager said, “Veteran players have to choose their own path. Kroos has made his choice, and we have to respect it.

“We should bid him farewell in the best possible way. It’s a decision of a man with guts. You have to respect it.

“Replacing him is very complicated, if not impossible, but we have the resources to continue winning a lot.”
