NDDC Free Medical Mission: Over 1,300 Beneficiaries Receive Treatment in Bayelsa

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has successfully concluded its Free Medical Mission in Bayelsa State, providing vital healthcare services to over 1,300 beneficiaries.

The two-week medical outreach, which took place from May 13 to May 25, 2024, was a follow-up to an earlier phase held from May 3 to May 5, 2024.

According to statistics provided by Dr Blessing Oboidhe, Deputy State Project Coordinator of Derums Global Services, the medical consultants for the outreach, the second phase saw:

– 1,353 general registrations
– 823 eye clinic patients
– 128 dental clinic patients
– 69 general surgeries
– 18 Obstetrics & Gynecology (O&G) surgeries, including 2 C-sections, Myomectomy, and Hysterectomy
– 434 dental procedures
– 79 ophthalmology procedures, including cataracts and Pterygium treatments
– 188 optometry patients received glasses
– 494 pharmacy patients received medication
– 1,648 laboratory tests conducted for 419 patients

The above numbers demonstrated the impact of the NDDC’s Free Medical Mission in providing essential healthcare services to the people of the Niger Delta region.

Checks revealed that the outreach aimed to address the region’s healthcare challenges and improve the overall well-being of the community.
