Kano Judiciary Cracks Down on Corrupt Officials As Magistrate Caught Stealing from Frozen Bank Account | Daily Report Nigeria

The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has taken disciplinary actions against three magistrates and a registrar of the Kano High Court for various misconducts, including attempted theft from a frozen bank account.

 

According to a statement by the JSC spokesman, Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, the commission found Chief Magistrate Talatu Makama guilty of misconduct after investigating three petitions against her.

She was found to have ordered the transfer of money from a frozen account into her personal account, displayed judicial bias, and received a case and made an order before it was assigned to her. Consequently, she was recalled from the bench and relieved of all judicial duties.

 

Senior Magistrate Rabi Abdulkadir was also indicted for judicial recklessness and will be relieved of judicial duties for one year.

Senior Registrar Abdu Nasir received a strong warning and had his promotion deferred for one year after he was found to have received payments meant for court records into his personal account.

 

Chief Magistrate Tijjani Saleh-Minjibir is also under investigation for various allegations. The JSC’s actions aim to maintain the highest standards of judicial conduct and ensure the integrity of the legal system.
