Jubililation as Court Grants Egrangbene Traditional Autonomy

Jubililation as Court Grants Egrangbene Traditional Autonomy

The High Court of Delta State, Bomadi Judicial Division, has granted autonomy to Egrangbene community to operate as a kingdom separate from Operomor.

In a sitting on Monday July 22, 2024, Ughelli , the court ruled in the suit marked HCB/16/2022 that Egrangbene and other communities under it had the traditional autonomy.

Delivering the judgment, Justice S. Adoloh held that the people of Egrangbene and its federated communities such as Abadiama, Ekumuxgbene, Ekogbene, Egolegbene, Ebeberegbene and their satellite towns and villages are granted autonomy as any other autonomous kingdom inclusive of Operomor kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The landmark judgment entails that Egrangbene is on thw way to gaining official recognition before the Government of Delta State.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Egrangbene community, Comrade Peres has extended congratulations to the people and the Pere-elect, Henry Ambakederemo Okrikpa, praying for better future ahead.
