Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has criticized football’s governing bodies, including FIFA and the Premier League, for not prioritizing player welfare. With several key players still missing due to their summer international commitments, City’s pre-season preparations are hindered.
Pep Guardiola expressed concern that this situation will impact their readiness for the new season, saying, “We will be behind schedule not just for the Community Shield against Manchester United, but also for matches against Chelsea and Ipswich. We have to manage with the players we have and try not to lose too many points.”
He added, “If FIFA, UEFA, and the Premier League don’t consider the players’ needs, then it falls to managers to address these issues, otherwise, it could lead to serious consequences. We need a proper rest period, but with the tight schedule, we have to adapt.”
