Some gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday morning attacked Omoba Police Station in the Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia state.
The assailants who killed a police officer, were said to have arrived the station on motorcycles and opened heavy fire on the station even though policemen on duty repelled the attack.
The gunmen however overpowered the police and gained access into the station.

Armoury at the station was reportedly looted by the unknown gunmen, as arms and ammunitions were carted away.
Confirming the attack, the Abia Police Public Relations Officer, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, said efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the suspects.
