A police source revealed that they didn’t notify security personnel, including the police and military, before embarking on the trip.

“They mentioned to a few people that they were heading to Kémta Village, about a kilometre away from the company, to visit some friends,” the source said.

Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom.

“The company’s security supervisor reported that one of the expatriates called to inform him that Wenguang and Ding had been kidnapped and that the kidnappers were demanding money in exchange for their release.”

Security operatives, local vigilantes, and hunters have been searching the Kémta Village forest but are yet to find the duo. Efforts to secure their release are ongoing.
