GTBank Denies Website Hack, Blames Connectivity Issue | Daily Report Nigeria

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has denied reports that its website was seized by hackers, describing the claims as “entirely false.” The bank’s website was inaccessible on Wednesday night, sparking concerns about a potential hack.

However, a top GTB executive clarified that the bank was experiencing a connectivity issue, unrelated to hacking. “It’s false. What we are experiencing is a connectivity issue and has nothing to do with the alleged hacking,” the source said.

The bank’s mobile applications on Android and iOS remained functional, and no hacker group has claimed responsibility for the alleged attack. Cybersecurity experts suggest that the compromise may have involved the bank’s login credentials rather than a domain hijacking.

GTBank has assured customers that their data is secure and that the issue is being addressed. The bank’s swift response and denial of the hacking claims have helped to alleviate concerns among customers.
