Residents have appealed to the government for help after a heavy rain led to the collapse of a bridge in Kebbi state.
According to reports, the bridge linking Mayalo, Sambawa, Gumbin-Kure, Uguwar Shuaibu, and Gandiji villages, collapsed on Friday following a heavy rain that started on Thursday night and continued till Friday afternoon in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Speaking to Daily Trust, the local government official in the area said;
“They are already evacuating the stranded and displaced residents in the affected communities. They are also evaluating the extent of the damage the collapsed bridge had caused,”

Also speaking on the collapse, a resident noted the bridge is a major transportation source, and it’s collapse has led to an halt in all commercial and economic activities, social interactions amongst others in the village and its environs.
The resident have also called on the government and other organizations to come to their aid.
