The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the killing of five police officers and three civilians in the Kankara Local Government Area of the state.
Police Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday, stating that the slain police officers who were on special duty in the state from Kano, were killed while repelling an attack on the village.
According to him, three civilians were also killed during the attack.
The terrorists over 300 in their numbers armed with sophisticated weapons invaded Gatikawa village of Kankara LGA at about 6:30 pm on Wednesday.

They were said to have operated for more than one hour, moving from house to house, looting food items, money, and other valuables.
Gambo, however, maintained that investigations are ongoing to unravel the incident.
