Investigative Journalist, Adejuwon Soyinka, Released After DSS Detention | Daily Report Nigeria

Adejuwon Soyinka, the Regional Editor of The Conversation Africa and an investigative journalist, has been released after being detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Sunday.

Soyinka was arrested shortly after arriving from the United Kingdom via a Virgin Atlantic flight.

A distress message sent to The PUNCH stated that no reason was given for his arrest and Soyinka had been held incommunicado.

However, in an update, Soyinka’s friend informed our correspondent that he had been released by the DSS, who held him in their Ikoyi office. The DSS seized Soyinka’s passport before releasing him.

The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, initially claimed he was not aware of Soyinka’s arrest, stating, “I am not aware of the matter you have raised and have no comments on it.”
