Carlo Ancelotti Unbothered by Mbappé’s Goal Drought

Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has brushed off concerns about Kylian Mbappé’s goal drought in LaLiga, despite the star forward not scoring for a second consecutive league match.

Mbappé, who signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid this summer, found the net in their UEFA Super Cup victory over Atalanta earlier this month. However, he has yet to score in LaLiga and was substituted after 86 minutes in Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over the Bernabéu on Sunday.

Addressing the media after the match, Carlo Ancelotti dismissed the idea that playing Mbappé as a center-forward was restricting his effectiveness. “No, I don’t think so at all,” Ancelotti said. “[Mbappé] is a spectacular forward; he’s very fast and moves well without the ball. He had three chances. I think in that position he’ll score, as he’s always scored. I don’t think he has to play on the left or the right. He’ll score goals.”
