The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has sounded a note of warning to stakeholders in the upcoming Edo State governorship election, urging them to eschew violence and embrace peace.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Benin, the state capital, IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, stressed that the election is not a war but an exercise in democracy aimed at selecting leaders who will promote good governance, accountability, and development.

Dantalle appealed to all stakeholders to prioritize peace, equity, and justice, and work together to create an environment conducive to credible elections.

He also encouraged voters to vote based on manifestos, track records, and leadership qualities, while rejecting any form of vote-buying.

The IPAC chairman further appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to remain neutral and impartial, highlighting their critical roles in maintaining the trust and confidence of the electorate.

With the election just a week away, IPAC’s warning is seen as a timely reminder of the need for stakeholders to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes democratic values and the rule of law.
