LG Polls: Spend ₦1bn Budgeted For DSIEC on Ayakoromo Bridge, Activist Tells Okowa

A youth leader and human activist in Burutu Local Government Area, Comrade Timi Coleman has beckoned on the governor of Delta state, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to make good use of the ₦1 billion budgeted for the upcoming local government elections in the state.

Comrade Timi who is a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), argued that there is no point for the state government to allocate the whooping sum for the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) to conduct elections that will obviously be won by the People’s Democratic Party.

Timi emphatically pleaded with the Governor to rather spend the budgeted sum on pending projects like the Ayakoromor bridge that has been left abandoned by the present administration.

He pleaded with political appointees and those close to the Governor to advise to not be wasteful in the guise of election.

He took to his Facebook timeline to write;

I’m begging Gov Okowa appointees, his Godfather’s, Friends, family relatives to tell him not to waste #1 billion earmarked for DSIEC Election because I will not advise even my enemy to squander his or her scare resources.

Why because DSIEC Election is selection done by Gov. Okowa.

I’m begging because #1b will go a long way to completing Ayakoromo Bridge project.

Unless MOU guaranteeing free, fair and credible Election with other political parties na to……………………….

The abandoned Ayakoromo bridge project was awarded and started by the James Onanefe Ibori administration, with subsequent governments playing a blind eye to it’s completion, leading to uproar in Burutu Local Government Area.
