Residents of Ayetoro in the Yaba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State are reeling from the shocking demolition of their homes.

The demolition was allegedly carried out by Lagos State government officials, including the Task Force and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

Reports indicated that the demolition, which occurred on Monday without prior notice, has left thousands of families in distress and without shelter.

According to residents, the demolition began in the nearby Oko-Baba Plant Market and extended into their community, with bulldozers destroying homes and fires set in areas inaccessible to the bulldozers

The community’s boundary with the plant market has been breached, leaving over 3,000 residents affected and seeking urgent assistance.

Meanwhile, it was said that the Director-General of LASEMA, Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu has denied the agency’s involvement in the demolitions.

Oke-Osanyintolu maintained
LASEMA’s role as a rescue agency, and not a demolition crew.
