The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two political thugs in Edo State, recovering firearms and thwarting their plans to cause mayhem during the governorship election.

The suspects, identified as Edwin Obanor and Audu Tajudeen, were caught with locally fabricated pistols and a locally made gun.

According to Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Saturday, the police acted on a tip-off that some individuals had been armed to cause instability during the election.

The suspects are currently in custody and will face the full weight of the law.

Adejobi reassured the public of the police’s dedication to protecting lives and property, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via their published help lines.

He emphasized that the police and other supporting security agencies will not tolerate any form of violence or disorderliness during the election in Edo State.
