Minister of Interior Establishes Investigative Panel on Bobrisky Bribery Allegations

Bobrisky

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has established an independent investigative panel on Bobrisky, to look into the alleged bribery involving popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, and staff members of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

In a statement made on Monday, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of this panel in order to cleanse the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS) of any wrongdoing.

This move follows the recent leak of an audio recording purportedly featuring Bobrisky, in which he claimed that the influence of his godfather prevented him from serving a six-month sentence at Kirikiri prison in Lagos.

The minister appointed Dr. Magdalena Ajani, the Permanent Secretary, to lead the panel, which is tasked with ensuring transparency and accountability within the correctional system.

“We are committed to reforming the correctional service,” Tunji-Ojo stated. “Your primary responsibility will be to investigate specific allegations of corruption, torture, and mistreatment of inmates by correctional officers, particularly the recent claims related to Bobrisky. I expect findings to be released within two weeks.”

He further asserted, “We will seek your legal expertise to ensure that our actions comply with the law. It is crucial to provide the public with clear facts and a path forward. Let me make it clear: no one will be protected. No individual, regardless of their position, will be shielded from accountability.”
