Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has criticized the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for its recent arrest of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme border while allegedly attempting to leave Nigeria for the Benin Republic.
This incident unfolds amidst ongoing investigations by the House of Representatives into a leaked audio conversation involving Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS).
In the audio, Bobrisky is purportedly heard discussing a ₦15 million bribe to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges against him.
Fayose took to social media to voice his concerns, questioning the NIS’s motives. He stated, “Please, why is the Nigerian Immigration Service holding Bobrisky? What has he done? Can’t he travel again?”
He emphasized that Bobrisky had already served a six-month prison sentence and argued that being a crossdresser should not warrant such treatment.
Fayose further remarked, “Why is the Nigerian Immigration holding the young man? We have bigger issues in Nigeria than Bobrisky. It’s time to allow Bobrisky to live his life; it’s unfair.”
