Ondo State has witnessed a historic political shift as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured a sweeping victory in the state’s gubernatorial election.
Aiyedatiwa triumphed over his main challenger, Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with a commanding lead, winning all 18 local government areas in the state.
In the election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Aiyedatiwa’s APC garnered overwhelming support across the state.
The governor-elect clinched significant margins in key local government areas, securing a decisive win that has cemented his political dominance in Ondo State.

Aiyedatiwa’s victory marks a historic moment for the APC in Ondo, where his party was able to capture every single local government, a feat rarely seen in the state’s political landscape.
In Akure North, the capital region, the APC dominated with 14,451 votes, compared to PDP’s 5,787 votes.
Similarly, in major strongholds like Okitipupa and Owo, Aiyedatiwa secured 26,811 and 31,914 votes respectively, trouncing his rival by substantial margins.

The governor-elect also performed strongly in the northern parts of the state, including Akoko Northeast and Akoko Southwest, where he secured 25,657 and 29,700 votes, respectively. The APC’s sweep extended to rural and urban regions alike, demonstrating the broad appeal of Aiyedatiwa’s campaign across Ondo’s diverse electorate.
“I thank the people of Ondo for their trust and support,” Aiyedatiwa said in his victory speech. “This win is a testament to the unity of our people and our commitment to bringing development and security to every corner of the state.”
