  • President Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the P’Harcourt—Maiduguri rail line.

  • He gave this assurance during an interactive session with South-East leaders in Enugu State on Saturday.

  • He also described the project as “a work in progress,” saying that he inherited some critical problems and is committed to solving them.

 

 

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing the $3.02 billion Eastern Rail line project, which connects Port Harcourt to Maiduguri.

The President gave this assurance during an interactive session with South-East leaders in Enugu State on Saturday.

Tinubu described the project as “a work in progress,” adding that he inherited some critical problems and is committed to solving them.

He emphasized the importance of the rail line in stimulating economic activities along the corridor, saying, “It is a profound demonstration of what we can do together. investment in security will bring rapid development.”

During the meeting, the President listened to the requests from the former Minister of Power, Prof Chinedu Nebo and an Enugu State indigene, Chris Ugoh, and responded with a commitment to address their concerns.

While applauding the Tinubu administration for completing the Port Harcourt to Aba section of the Eastern rail line, Nebo appealed to the President to prioritise the completion of the remaining portions of the rail link.

He emphasised the rail link’s potential to boost Nigeria’s non-oil exports and economic growth.

Suspected herdsmen have reportedly kidnapped at least seven indigenes of Eha-Amufu, in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that the abducted victims had traveled home to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays in the village.
