  • The House of Representatives Subcommittees of Public Assets has launched an investigation into the Nigerian Ports Authority’s (NPA) assets.

  • The House Committee on Public Assets is mandated to investigate public assets in all Ministries.

  • Also, public assets in Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure they serve their intended purpose.

The House of Representatives Subcommittees of Public Assets has commenced an investigation into the Nigerian Ports Authority’s (NPA) assets and illegal occupation of Federal Government houses in Abuja.

This development follows the inaugural meeting of the subcommittees, where they announced their readiness to begin the probe.

According to the Chairman of the Subcommittee on NPA, Ibrahim Ayokunle Isaka, the committee will investigate public assets diligently to ensure good governance and responsible stewardship of the nation’s resources.

“As we begin our work, let us remember that our mandate goes beyond mere investigation. We are called to promote a culture of accountability to ensure the public assets serve the interest of the people and to restore public trust in our institutions,” Isaka said.

The Chairman of the Subcommittee to Investigate Federal Government Houses in FCT, Abuja, Dumnamene Dekor, stated that the committee will investigate federal government houses in Abuja and recover houses and properties illegally occupied. Dekor, who is also the House Committee Chairman of Host Communities, assured that the committee will conduct the probe diligently to achieve the desired objectives.

The House Committee on Public Assets, headed by Hon. Ademorin Kuye, has the mandate to investigate public assets in all MDAs to ensure they serve their intended purpose.

The House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence has decried the zero capital release for counter-terrorism in 2023 and 2024.

Chairman Ahmed Satomi made this known during a budget defence meeting with agencies under the committee’s oversight jurisdiction.
