  • A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory has issued an interim order stopping the Senate Ethics Committee from investigating Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

  • The interim order puts all proceedings on hold pending further judicial review.

A High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has issued an interim order refraining the Senate Ethics Committee from proceeding with its planned investigation of the actions of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on the floor of the house.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order on Tuesday following an ex parte application filed by counsels to the senator representing Kogi Central, Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The court’s ruling comes as the committee was set to convene and potentially impose an indefinite suspension on the senator.

With the interim order, all proceedings on the matter would be put on hold, pending further judicial review.

Court Dismisses Suit to Stop INEC’s Electoral Delineation in Delta State

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by Chief Brown Mene and two others seeking to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from releasing the report on the fresh delineation of electoral wards and polling units in Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West Local Government Areas of Delta State.

Justice Nwite, in delivering the ruling, held that the case amounted to an attempt to challenge a Supreme Court decision, describing it as “judicial rascality.”
