National Electricity Grid Collapses Again

Abuja, along with Lagos and other major cities in Nigeria, plunged into darkness once again due to a collapse of the country’s national electricity grid.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday, December 11.

According to the TCN report, the nationwide power outage occurred during the afternoon, leaving consumers across the country without electricity.

According to Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s spokesperson, efforts to restore the national power grid are already underway.

Mbah mentioned that the power supply has been partially restored in Abuja and some other areas.

Mbah said:

Abuja has already been restored, so have different areas. Full restoration ongoing.”

The recent collapse marks the second occurrence since mid-September when distribution firms nationwide reported a shortage of bulk electricity from federal infrastructure.

Despite the challenges, President Bola Tinubu’s administration continues to promise Nigerians uninterrupted power supply since taking office on May 29, 2023.
