The terrorists, who advanced from the Gulumba Gana axis, encountered stiff resistance from ground troops, which forced them to retreat after suffering heavy casualties.
Field sources confirmed that the militants evacuated about 8 to 10 injured fighters to Zangeri camp near Gulumba Gana, while five bodies were buried hastily. Several other corpses were abandoned at the battlefield due to the intensity of the clash.
The Nigerian military also recorded losses, with one soldier killed and two others injured during the exchange of fire.
To back the land offensive, the NAF launched precision airstrikes targeting terrorist hideouts and clusters along the Nigeria–Cameroon border. The air bombardments further weakened the insurgents’ formations and disrupted attempts to mobilize reinforcements.
