An unknown number of passengers traveling on an 18-seater bus were reportedly abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers along the Sobe-Benin road in Owan West Local Government Area, Edo State, on Thursday last week.
Sources confirmed that among the victims were students. The kidnappers have reportedly contacted the families of the abductees, demanding N15 million ransom from each for their release.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the gunmen, hiding in the bush, suddenly emerged when the bus passed by, shooting the driver and abducting the passengers.
“The kidnappers, after injuring the driver, kidnapped the occupants of the vehicle into the bush, leaving the driver in a pool of his blood,” the source said.
It was further reported that Nigerian social media influencer VeryDarkMan (VDM) played a key role in rescuing the injured driver and taking him to a hospital for medical attention.
