Halima Amirah Junaid, granddaughter of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, is set to wed Walid Shehu Mu’azu in a ceremony scheduled to hold in Kaduna State.

The wedding preparations began this week in Abuja, where former First Lady Aisha Buhari hosted a women’s gathering in anticipation of the main event.

Halima is the daughter of the late Zulaihat Junaid, President Buhari’s first child, who tragically passed away during childbirth. Zulaihat was married to Junaid Abdullahi and was herself the daughter of Safinatu, Buhari’s first wife, who is also deceased.

Speaking to TheCable Lifestyle, wedding coordinator Abubakar Adamu shed light on Halima’s family circumstances. He explained that after Zulaihat’s death, former First Lady Aisha Buhari assumed responsibility for caring for the late president’s grandchildren.

Addressing widespread confusion linking Halima to Buhari’s child who married former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, Adamu clarified, “The mother of the bride is late. She was with her husband when she died. It was her sister who was married to Malami. Even the one that they gave birth to is still alive now. Because she died during childbirth.”

He added, “The boy is alive. All the children are with Aisha who is doing all that woman thing in Abuja. But the wedding proper would happen on the 30th. The culture is that it is the father who has to give his daughter out.”

The official wedding ceremony is slated for August 30 in Kaduna, followed by a reception at the Kaduna Polo Club.
