The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspected car thieves and recovered three stolen vehicles in separate operations across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

According to the statement, on August 18, 2025, a woman from Badawa Quarters reported that her 2011 Hyundai Elantra had been stolen from outside a school in Nasarawa GRA, Kano. Following investigations, the vehicle was traced to Zaria, Kaduna State, and recovered on August 23.
Kiyawa also revealed:
“Arrest of Suspects and Recovery of Stolen Siena Bus Motor Vehicle: On 18th August, 2025, information was received from a good Samaritan regarding the theft of a Motor Vehicle, Siena Bus, sky blue in color with registration number GAK 556 from Bauchi State.
“Prompt action by the Police Patrol Team attached to Wudil Division led to the interception of the vehicle and the arrest of two suspects: Yunusa Muhammad a.k.a Yellow ‘M’, 35 years old, and Abdulwahab Bala ‘m, 23, all of Bauchi State.”
Earlier on August 5, 2025, a resident of Sabon Gari had reported his 2006 Pontiac Vibe stolen from his residence. Acting on intelligence, police later recovered the vehicle in Adamawa State.
The statement confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations, while the recovered vehicles will be returned to their rightful owners.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers for their swift action and expressed appreciation to members of the public for their support. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious activities, while also sharing emergency contact numbers for rapid response.
Troops Rescue Six Kidnapped Children In Katsina After Gun Battle With Gunmen
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working alongside police operatives and community watch groups, have successfully rescued six abducted children in Gidan Maga village, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident took place on Monday when armed men stormed the village in a bid to kidnap residents.
