Ancelotti said the 33-year-old suffered a “minor” leg muscle problem and would miss the upcoming games against Chile and Bolivia.
Shortly after the call-up, former Barcelona and PSG star posted a gym photo on his Instagram Story with a motivational note:
“Success comes from desire, determination, and persistence in achieving a goal. Even if you don’t reach your target, those who seek and overcome obstacles will, at the very least, do admirable things.”
Brazil have already booked their place at the 2026 World Cup.
So, Ancelotti has chosen these matches to test younger players and protect the fitness of senior stars.
This approach lets him experiment, while keeping veterans fresh for the tournament proper.
Ancelotti has a short window to try out new possibilities as Brazil plays Chile at Maracanã on September 5 and Bolivia on September 10.
