While some accounts attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure, a local resident suggested that poor visibility may have played a role.

Responders from the Abia State Emergency Medical Service (EMS) arrived promptly at the scene after being alerted by members of the community and evacuated the victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Confirming the incident to DAILY POST on Sunday, the Abia State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ngozi Ezeoma, said the vehicle was carrying eleven male passengers and one female.

She disclosed that all four fatalities were male, while the eight injured victims—seven men and one woman—are currently receiving treatment.
