The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that Governor Sim Fubara will return to office on September 18, following his six-month suspension.

Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, APC State Chairman Chief Tony Okocha assured that the party is ready to collaborate with Fubara while maintaining oversight.

“The governor who was suspended will return to office on September 18. The APC will work with him when he returns,” Okocha said.

He added, “There are states where the governor and assembly members are in different parties, so we are going to work with him. However, that will not take away our right to criticise him when he does wrong. For us, the LG chairmen will work with him, except that we will not agree to vicious policies.”

Fubara’s suspension on March 18, 2025, came after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, also suspending the deputy governor and the State House of Assembly while appointing a sole administrator.
