Governor Eno likened the PDP to a “spoilt plane” that may not be able to take him to his political destination beyond 2027.
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has dropped a bombshell about potentially leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing concerns over the party’s internal instability and fragmentation.
Speaking at a mammoth crowd in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency, Governor Eno likened the PDP to a “spoilt plane” that may not be able to take him to his political destination beyond 2027.
“If you wanted to travel with Ibom Airline, and on the verge of taking off, it developed a fault that won’t enable it to fly, won’t you board the next available plane to take you to your destination?” Governor Eno queried. This statement has sparked speculation about his potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite the hint of defection, Governor Eno remained committed to his administration’s empowerment programs, distributing grants and support to over 400 constituents. “We need to meet with the people from time to time to see them. It’s not only during elections that we should come to see our people,” he said. The governor urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the resources, warning them against deploying it to ponzi schemes or any other unintended purposes.
