Katharine, Duchess of Kent, has passed away at the age of 92. She died peacefully at Kensington Palace with her loved ones by her side.

The Royal Family confirmed the news in an official statement shared on Instagram, announcing, “Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family.”

The tribute reflected on her lifelong service, highlighting her passion for music, commitment to charitable causes, and deep care for young people.

Known for her musical talent, the Duchess spent more than ten years teaching music at a primary school in Hull. In 2004, she also founded Future Talent, a charity dedicated to supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing music education.

Beyond her philanthropic efforts, she broke royal tradition in 1994 when she became the first senior member of the British royal family in over three centuries to convert to Roman Catholicism.

Her legacy, both in the arts and in her groundbreaking personal choices, leaves an enduring mark on the history of the monarchy.
