Actress Yvonne Jegede has revealed that her appearance in 2Baba’s iconic “African Queen” video wasn’t part of any master plan—it happened entirely by chance.

During a chat on the Nollywood on Radio podcast, the screen star explained that she never set out to become a video girl and had no real interest in the gig when it first came her way.

“When the director of African Queen first reached out to me, I just said ‘no, I’m not interested,’” she recounted. “They were shooting the next morning at 9 a.m., and he told me to let him know if I changed my mind.”

At the time, Jegede admitted she was unaware that 2Baba had launched a solo career after his run with the Plantashun Boiz group. But everything shifted after a casual chat with her friend Michael later that evening.

“I was talking to my friend Michael, and I mentioned it casually. I said something like, ‘Someone asked me to come do one funny thing, something called African Queen.’ The moment I said it, he screamed, ‘That song is a hit! You have to do it!’”

That reaction convinced her to rethink her earlier decision. She picked up the phone that night and agreed to be part of the shoot.

“When I got there and saw Tuface in person, I was like, ‘Wow, this is really happening.’ But even after that, I didn’t want to be seen as a video vixen. I just wanted to act,” she shared.

Jegede also recalled another time she featured in a notable music video—Djinee’s Ego. According to her, it wasn’t about publicity but rather a favour for someone close.

“The director of Ego was a friend. He also worked with Styl-Plus back then. I was actually supposed to be in their Olufunmi video, but I got stuck in traffic and missed it,” she remembered.

Despite the visibility those appearances brought her, Jegede made a clear decision early on to shift her focus away from such roles.

“No more dancing, no more vixen roles. I just wanted to act,” she emphasized.

Reflecting on her journey so far, she expressed a deep sense of satisfaction.

“It’s been fulfilling, I’m not going to lie. I’ve experienced a lot and I’m still growing.”

Jegede’s story is a reminder that sometimes, major career moments happen when least expected—and staying true to one’s path still matters most.

VeryDarkMan Drops Explosive Diss Track, Slams Gov. Okpebholo, Portable, and Prophet Fufeyin

Controversial online critic VeryDarkMan has stirred the pot again with the release of a scathing diss track on July 23, 2025, targeting several prominent figures including Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, singer Portable, and Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin.

In the fiery new track, VeryDarkMan took direct aim at Governor Okpebholo, mocking the politician over his recently leaked West African Examination Council (WAEC) results, which revealed a string of low grades.
