Social media personality VeryDarkMan has rejected a ₦120 million celebrity boxing proposal, calling the offer disrespectful and far below what he believes he deserves.
The offer, reportedly pushed by music promoter Soso Soberekon, would have seen VeryDarkMan face off against controversial singer Portable in a high-profile boxing match. But the outspoken activist made it clear he wasn’t interested—unless the price was right.
In a video shared on Instagram, VeryDarkMan addressed the issue directly, saying he would only agree to enter the ring if the payment reached a minimum of $1 million.

He recalled turning down a proposed bout with American rapper 50 Cent last year, insisting that the terms of that deal didn’t reflect his value.
“So last year, I was supposed to have the biggest event in Africa—me versus 50 Cent. Tunde Ednut was involved, and you can ask the president of the boxing federation, Omo-Agege.
50 Cent was asking for $2 million upfront out of a $5 million deal. They then came to me with a $100,000 offer, and I said no. If 50 Cent is getting $5 million, then I should get at least $1 million,”
he said.
He further revealed that more offers came in after his return from China earlier this year, but they also fell through due to what he described as “lowball” proposals.
“After I came back from China, another offer came. But the money still no make sense. You see where I dey? I can’t lower myself for any small offer just to appear in the ring,”
he added.
Turning his attention to Soso Soberekon’s proposal, VeryDarkMan said the ₦120 million offer was not only insulting but failed to match the value he places on his brand. He also noted that he’s spent more than that amount on charity alone.
“It’s rude for Soso to say I should fight for ₦100 million. Do you know how much I’ve spent on charity recently? What’s ₦100 million? That’s not even enough to get a good house in Abuja,”
he said.
He made it clear that any serious conversation about a fight would require $500,000 upfront as a starting point.
“Soso, if you’re serious, bring $500,000 first before we even sit down to talk about the rest. But honestly, I doubt you have that kind of money. If you don’t, please don’t ever mention my name on your page again,”
he concluded.
The comments have triggered widespread reactions online, with many debating whether VeryDarkMan is overestimating his value—or simply setting his price high to maintain his brand image.
