  • Training workshop equips stakeholders with leadership and dispute resolution skills

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Otuaro, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support for the peacebuilding efforts in the Niger Delta, saying the President’s commitment is a clear demonstration of his dedication to regional stability, national unity and development.

Otuaro made this declaration in Abuja on Wednesday during the second batch opening ceremony of the Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Media Training organised by PAP in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre.

The three-day workshop is designed to empower stakeholders of the programme with practical conflict resolution and leadership skills.

Speaking at the event, Otuaro described President Tinubu as a leader determined to secure a better future for the Niger Delta through sustainable peace efforts.

“Mr President’s support has been tremendous, and it shows his profound commitment and dedication to peace, stability and security for the accelerated development and socio-economic advancement in our region,” he stated.

He urged participants to regard themselves as peace ambassadors and worthy partners in the collective effort to ensure lasting peace across the region.

“As stakeholders of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, you are worthy ambassadors in the peacebuilding project in our region, and I want you to know that we all have a responsibility to also support Mr President by working assiduously for sustainable peace in and around our communities,” he said.

Otuaro also acknowledged the pivotal role of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), headed by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for its “tireless efforts” and contributions to the successful implementation of the programme.

Reaffirming his policy of inclusivity, he assured Niger Delta stakeholders—particularly women—that empowerment initiatives would continue, as they too “were casualties in the struggle” and must be integrated into the ongoing development drive.

He urged participants to fully engage with the training and avoid distractions, adding that the acquired knowledge would enhance their capacity to act as conflict mediators and regional leaders.
