Tension has enveloped the Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado Ekiti following the sudden disappearance of a newborn baby, less than 24 hours after birth.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday when healthcare workers attempted to attend to the infant, only to discover she had vanished without a trace.

The development sparked immediate chaos within the facility, leaving the baby’s mother, her relatives, other patients, and medical staff in a state of shock and confusion.

Sources within the health centre confirmed that the baby’s mother, alongside some hospital staff, including a security guard, were detained by authorities for preliminary questioning.

Attempts to get an official response from the hospital management were unsuccessful as of press time.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, revealed that four suspects had already been arrested in connection with the case.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed the State CID to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that the missing baby is found,” SP Abutu said.

“So far, four persons have been arrested and are currently providing useful information to assist in our ongoing investigation,” he added.
