Sani, in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), alleged that senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have abandoned their independent stance to cooperate with the ruling bloc.

According to him, the supposed opposition bench in the Senate is losing its essence as more lawmakers silently align with the APC on key legislative matters.

“The opposition sits on the left-hand side of the Senate President in the Chamber. It appears that the side is becoming empty,” Sani wrote.

He was reacting to a statement credited to Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, who recently described defectors from opposition parties as “cowards.”

“The truth is that even without defections, the LP, PDP, APGA, SDP, and NNPP senators are working ‘harmoniously’ with the ruling party senators,” Sani added.
