The killings have triggered outrage among young people in the area. Many residents claim that Nasarawa is gradually becoming a hideout for bandits fleeing from tightened military operations in neighbouring states. They are demanding stronger security measures and immediate intervention from federal and state authorities.
Responding to the uproar, the Nasarawa State Government appealed for calm and condemned the attack, including another recent assault on the Sarkin Noma community in Keana LGA, where lives were also lost.
In a statement issued by Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, the government vowed that criminal groups will not be allowed to disrupt the state’s peace.

Ahemba stated that security agencies have been directed to track, arrest, and prosecute those responsible, assuring residents that the state government is actively working with security operatives to prevent further attacks.
“We will not fold our arms and watch criminals destroy the peace being enjoyed by our people,” he said.
The government urged residents to provide security agencies with information that could help in identifying individuals linked to criminal activities.
