The Federal Government has confirmed that the construction of two key Ekiti roads; Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti and Aramoko–Ijero–Ifaki Ekiti will be included in the proposed 2026 budget.

According to Oyebode, the development followed Governor Oyebanji and Senator Opeyemi Bamidele’s visit to President Tinubu on November 9, 2025, where they discussed the deteriorating state of federal roads in Ekiti. He added that public outcry over the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti road and other neglected highways had prompted the move.

Oyebode noted that the Tinubu-led administration had already awarded three road projects in the state, with contractors mobilised to site. He said the Oyebanji government had equally completed the Ado–Iworoko–Ifaki road and several other urban and rural projects within three years.

“When completed, the newly approved roads will ease travel, strengthen regional connectivity, and open Ekiti to greater commercial activity,” he said.

The roads, he added, align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the Shared Prosperity Agenda of Governor Oyebanji, aimed at improving economic development and citizen welfare.

Oyebode expressed the governor’s appreciation to the President for his “strategic intervention in Ekiti’s infrastructure growth,” noting that the state government would continue to work with the Federal Government and private partners to accelerate development.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Aramoko-Ekiti, Princess Sherifat Owolabi, has called for swift rehabilitation of local roads, stressing that poor access routes are crippling trade and discouraging investment.

Speaking with journalists in Aramoko, headquarters of Ekiti West Local Government Area, the Regent praised the state government’s efforts but appealed for urgent attention to the decaying road network.

“Good roads don’t just beautify a town; they create jobs and attract investors,” she said. “We want the government to help us revive our economy by fixing these roads. Aramoko is peaceful, and we need development partners to return home and invest.”

Princess Owolabi further explained that better infrastructure would enhance business confidence and boost transport efficiency, calling on residents and those in the diaspora to contribute to the community’s growth.
