8 Die, 7 Missing In Adamawa Boat Mishap

Eight persons have tragically lost their lives in a boat mishap at Njuwa Lake, Rugange village in the Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa state.

The incident occurred on Friday night when the driver of the ill-fated boat lost control due to severe weather conditions.

As a result, eight individuals were rescued, while seven others remain missing.

The Executive Secretary, of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Suleiman Muhammad on Saturday disclosed that the agency was actively involved in search and rescue efforts, working tirelessly to locate the missing individuals.

Muhammad said:

So far, we have recovered eight dead bodies. We have rescued eight persons and we are still searching for about seven others.

“Their boat capsized due to bad weather. There was a thunderstorm actually about the time they got on the boat.”

Also speaking the Deputy Governor, Prof Kaletapwa Farauta advised passengers to be equipped with life jackets, as directed by the state.
