The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 54-year-old man for allegedly defiling his three daughters in a case spanning seven years, highlighting serious concerns about child protection and sexual abuse in Delta State.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in Asaba, explaining that the abuse only surfaced after the Divisional Police Officer of the Ogborikoko Division, CSP Temi Agbede Zuokumor, conducted a school outreach session. One of the victims disclosed her suffering during the programme, prompting immediate police action.

According to Edafe, the three victims, now aged 13, 15, and 24 are receiving medical care and counselling. The father, Mr. Edward Odega, was taken into custody and confessed to the crimes, admitting that he first assaulted his eldest daughter at age 12 and subsequently abused the other two daughters.
Edafe added that Odega remains in police custody and will be charged to court to face full prosecution in accordance with Delta State’s laws on sexual offences.
